HardyPress has been around the static WordPress space for a while.

Feature-to-feature, they offer some of the same within what appears to be a “less expensive” package.

But overall, we find their pricing to be oddly structured and deceptive, and their functionality to pale in comparison.

Sorry, HardyPress Confuses Us

Honestly, even we were a bit confused by this. Sure, the price points look cheaply appealing, but the metrics supporting package tiers aren’t super clear.

Data transfer is a key metric:

• Data transfer, in short, is basically follows this formula: (page size) x (pages) x (visitor count) = data transfer
• And it appears to be per month, but with those variables your actual usage is pretty hard to estimate without doing the calculations yourself. You’d also need to measure page size, too.

Although you might get “unlimited sites,” the storage limits aren’t very big:

• €79/month gets you 30gb of storage.
• You’ll quickly run into the limits of that.

The limits on key things hit you quickly:

• You don’t get live support or Rest API unless you buy the €79/month and above package.
• “Advanced functions” — or whatever that means — aren’t available unless you buy €300/month+

Like most static hosts, they limit your ability to send contact forms to a bare minimum. But more strikingly, they limit the amount of emails your sites can even send:

• €79/month gets you 5,000/month across all of your sites
• We haven’t seen a “host” actively enforce these sorts of limits with a price backing

Search is a huge topic in the Static site realm. Most everyone has severe limits or custom functionality.
